How to fall asleep faster: Move lots of shit up and down 3 flights of stairs after working an 8-hour work day. Doesn’t exactly keep you asleep all night — as you will see from my tweet at 3:30am this morning — but it feels good for like 4 hours.

Ambience. It’s an iPhone app that helps me when I’m wound down enough to lie still. It’s undergone a lot of changes but all have been a huge improvement from one version to the next. I think it was 2.99 and it has been well worth it IMO. You can DL sounds ranging from traditional rainstorms and waves to an infinite number of static noises and weird ones like boiler room and busy city street (wouldn’t that stress a person out?) You can designate favorites and even make playlists. I usually put in my go to thunder storm sound “slow rolling thunder” and set a timer for 25min. If it works, when it stops I snap awake but can usually get back to sleep. It won’t run in the background though, so if you want to mess around with twitter or whatever while listening to the rainforests of Brazil, you can’t. You just have to set it and put the damned thing down for a minute. Anyway, for those of you with an iPhone I highly recommend Ambience. It may just do the trick.
